Thoughts and Reflections

This was such a fortuitous visit! Firstly, I was glad to be back in my hometown of Seattle to visit my family, and Billy was conveniently a 5 minute drive away, perhaps the closest instrument maker to my house. So we were able to talk about our shared geography. 

Secondly, as mentioned in the video, I absolutely love musical theatre. I love watching it, and performing it. I’ve made a career of playing in orchestra pits, a variety of instruments. And I’ve directed or music-directed over 30 productions. My other big video channel is Into The Hoods, which I started almost 10 years ago to highlight music composition in musicals.

Although I hope it not true, there will never be a moment again in which my love for musical theatre and instrument-making will intersect as much as this will. Needless to say, there was no shortage of things to talk about.

The actual interview had us talking a lot more theatre anecdotes, which I had to cut down in order to focus it back on his journey with creating this practical device that now has so many useful applications. It’s such a simple device that is so thought-out. Thanks Billy!
