The release of this episode marks the end of the first full year of The Instrument Makers project (or what I'm consiidering as "Season 1"). TWO episodes per month since October 1st has been a lot of work. This episode is a perfect end to the season.
Firstly, a big thanks to Boris for being so accommodating, and in general, offering such a peaceful vibe to match his instrument and philosophy.
And secondly, the instument was such a pleasure to play; it definitely is the favorite instrument she's visited while helping me film some of the episodes. And thus, it is the ONLY instrument that I had bought AFTER visiting the maker. It helps that his drums are affordable. And don't get me wrong, I would like to buy most of the instruments of the makers I visit; but doing such would render me bankrupt. Please support me perhaps so I can keep making episodes!
This marks the last* video I filmed the previous summer 2024 (when on my travels), so it was good to finish that chapter. The astirix* because there is still yet one more episode filmed the previous summer that is incomplete, and may not ever be completed. Half of the episode was filmed, and I've been waiting for the other half of the footage from the maker, ever since.
Anyways, big thanks to all of my supporters and viewers, to my wife (who makes all of the thumbnails/graphics and films about half of my episodes), and to all of the instrument makers who opened their doors to me to share their stories and craft.
Here's what to look forward in Season 2:
More enthralling instruments and makers!
Slightly better video quality. I've gotten better at color-grading. I've always hestitated to call myself a film-maker.
Although you won't see these episodes for a while (and maybe not until Season 3), I just bought a new camera in which to film episodes (a Canon EOS R50). Previously, I've been filming mostly on my Sony ZV-1F, my Google Pixel 7A, an iPhone 11, and my Insta360 Go3.
